Do you have a new puppy or kitten? Congratulations on this addition to your family! One of the first things you should do after bringing your new pet home is to introduce him or her to us at Animal Medical Center, your veterinary care team. Puppy and kitten visits offer a unique opportunity to get you and your new pet off on the right foot!
Your first and subsequent puppy or kitten visits will include a complete physical examination. The doctor will check your new pet's heart, lungs, eyes, nose, teeth and ears. She will take note of umbilical hernias and if things are in their proper place. We welcome you and your questions and look forward to addressing any concerns you may have. The more educated you are about your pet, the better you will be able to care for him or her, so we strive to offer you all the support you need.
Your new puppy or kitten will require a series of vaccines to have a proper immune response. Please bring a fresh stool sample to your first appointment so we can screen for fecal parasites. We will recommend an FELV/FIV test for your kitten prior to vaccine. We will recommend that your puppy get started on heartworm prevention. We are so excited for you and can’t wait to meet your new family member!
